The Chinese characters decomposition [19 Dec 2016|08:46am]

The Chinese characters decomposition examples

The Chinese characters decomposition is the shortest way to memorize Chinese characters.
For example: radicals jiōng down box, yī one, èr two, sān three in their combinations can make the following characters.
jiōng down box and yī one make kǒu mouth and wéi enclosure
jiōng down box and èr two make yuē say and rì sun
jiōng down box and sān three make mù eye, qiě even and dàn dawn.
More information about the Chinese characters decomposition you can find on Polina Shinkina’s Author Spotlight page http://www.lulu.com/spotlight/polina985

Computer problem - Microsoft Word 2003 bullets [15 Nov 2007|03:31pm]

I am trying to create a bulleted list in Microsoft Word.

It's all fine and dandy until I want to indent my bullets, you know, outline-style.

Typically, while typing your bulleted list, after your last line you'd hit "Enter" and then "Tab" to indent. From there, each time you hit "Enter", it would start creating your bullets underneath the indented one.

(The indented bullets are generally open circles as opposed to filled-in ones.)

Wellllllll... you're following me so far?

When I am making my bulleted list, I hit "Tab" and all that happens is my cursor tabs over a quarter inch to the right.

That's not right. I want the BULLET to move over a quarter inch to the right as well. Instead, it just sits there on the left.

Every time I press "Enter", it starts me right back over on the left.

This is something I could fix if I clicked on EACH LINE and moved the alignment ruler thing (the triangles on the ruler at the top of the screen). But I don't understand why my computer suddenly stopped allowing me to make multi-level tab lists.

I have tried everything from Customizing the Bulleted Lists and the Outline Numbered lists. I am usually nerdy enough to figure out little computer problems, but this one is driving me crazy! Any help you can offer is appreciated! Thank you.

Grad Student needs Intramual Basketball Team [30 Oct 2007|11:40am]

I am a grad student interested in playing intramural basketball, both women's league and co-ed league.
I'm 24.
Former point guard.
Coached high school girls for a couple years.
5' 7"
Made a NCAA Div II team, but didn't go to that university, so no college ball other than intramurals A leagues.

Respond to this post if you know anyone I could play with! I am hungry to play!

Clothing alterations and repairs [06 Sep 2006|07:12pm]

Hi guys, I thought this would be a good place to put this out.  I am attempting to start up a business doing clothing repair and alterations since my sewing machine was recently repaired and, like many of us, I'm poor as dirt.  I have been sewing and altering clothing for the past 6 years, including making many dresses.  I fix waist lines, hems, buttons, tears, and pretty much any other dilema you can think of.  If you want, I'll even sew you a custom piece (from a pattern of course, I'm not like those folks on Project Runway or anything).

My base price is $10, which is way cheaper than anything else you'll find other than your mom.  Price increases based on the complexity of the job.  If you are interested or know someone who is, please feel free to leave me a comment.  I don't really want to post my name and phone number on this, but if you leave a comment I can communicate my number to you to get in touch.

Thanks everybody!  I hope you're having a great start to the semester, and hopefully I'll hear from you soon!

Creighton Magazine [04 Jun 2006|03:44pm]

Whenever I get the Creighton Magazine I only look in the back so I can see who is getting married, having babies, and getting jobs. Is anyone else obsessive about that?

Oh, and through a friend I found that another Creighton graduate is going to Penn State for grad school with me. That makes three of us. You should all come here and we'll start our own club.

Cheap Place! [04 May 2006|03:07pm]

If anyone is interested in a really cheap place to live for the summer (until like August) I'm subleasing my apt. It's big, one-person, near the interstate, and b/c I'm moving soon this place has me in a bit of a bind so I'm willing to drop a significant amount in terms of rent. If anyone is interested give me a call (816) 225-6556

Graduate school... [09 Apr 2006|02:26pm]
[ mood | contemplative ]

I'm graduating from UNLV next May with a B.S. in biology, and Creighton caught my eye when I deciding where to go to graduate school.

I was wondering how easy/difficult it is to be accepted to graduate school at Creighton. Are they sticklers for GPA (mine's not that hot, compared to others in my college), or do they look more on GRE scores and research experience? I was thinking of going for my Ph.D. in something to do with molecular biology or pharmacology. Does the university have a good Drosophila research background? What's the average grad degree completion?

Is it relatively (in)expensive to live in Nebraska? What's the average rent like if I rented a small, one-bedroom apartment? I'd be paying for everything myself (tuition, rent, etc.), so price is definitely an issue for me.

Thanks for your input. :)
